Job Description
Lake City Transportation is seeking compassionate, safety-focused Transportation Aides to support our mission of providing exceptional transportation services to students. As a Transportation Aide, you’ll support students facing unique challenges—ensuring a safe, comfortable ride while offering care, oversight, and encouragement along the way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during transport.
- Monitor and support student behavior during rides.
- Provide extra attention and care for students with special needs.
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, parents, and school staff as needed.
- Support emergency procedures when necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or behavioral needs, preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in dynamic environments.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to student safety.
- Ability to pass background checks and required clearances.
- Ability to communicate in conversational English.
Salary and Benefits:
- Van Aide - $15/hr (5 hr minimum).
- School Bus Aide - $18 - $20/hr.
- Earned Sick and Safe Time paid leave.
Location & Shift Times:
- Training Dates - August 17, 2025 or August 18, 2025 from 9 AM - 3 PM (must commit to one of the dates).
- School Start Date - September 2, 2025
- Split shift schedule, with typical route times between 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM.
