Job Description

Seasonal Maintenance Crew

Expected Start Date: Spring/Summer 2026

Details

  • $16.50- $21.00 per hour (depending on qualifications) + opportunity for end of the season bonus! ($0.50 for every hour worked)
  • Part Time (Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal Status), Non-Exempt
  • Reports to respective Maintenance Managers & Supervisors
  • Located at Maintenance Facility (15150 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344) or Water Treatment Plant (14100 Technology Drive)
  • Typical hours are Monday- Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm; Part time hours are available to those with morning availability.

Responsibilities

The Seasonal Maintenance Crew accomplishes tasks within a team environment to provide the citizens and visitors of Eden Prairie with safe and properly maintained parks, facilities, streets & water infrastructure. These positions are responsible for the following areas of impact:

Park Maintenance-

  • Provides maintenance to the City trail system and park grounds (landscaping, planting, mowing, turf maintenance, tree removal, repair & inspection, etc.).
  • Assists in installs and/or maintenance of park amenities (i.e. playground equipment, basketball courts, ice rinks, tennis courts, volleyball courts and picnic areas).

Street Maintenance-

  • Mowing, weed whipping and landscaping of City, County, and State Right-of-Way boulevards, trails and LRT stations.
  • Tree trimming, sightline clearing, turf restoration, and weed control of roadside Right-of-Way, medians, and storm water ponds.

Water Systems/Utilities Maintenance-

  • Maintains the public drinking water distribution system by inspecting, testing, operating, and repairing fire hydrants, gate valves, water storage equipment and all associated appliances.
  • Inspects, evaluates, and assists with the repair of stormwater run-off systems throughout the community.

Water Treatment Plant Maintenance-

  • Perform tasks within the treatment plant & well houses, including cleaning, painting, housekeeping, restocking supplies, errands and light maintenance duties.
  • Assists with groundskeeping tasks including watering, trimming and weed control.

All Seasonal Maintenance Crew positions are required to demonstrate safe equipment operation and working conditions to ensure the safety of all users. While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older, related experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required. Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record, required. A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) process will be conducted if applicable.
  • This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 30-50 lbs, operate a motor vehicle and work under all weather conditions.
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City's evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, driver's license check, work verification and education verification if applicable.
