Job Description

Academic Req:    Required – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in business, psychology, information technology security, criminal justice or other relevant field plus minimum 7 years of related experience; OR, a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in law enforcement, investigations, leadership and management.   

Certifications:    Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer  

Work experience:    Experience in security, healthcare, nonprofit, or law enforcement.  Experience investigating, evaluating, and analyzing corporate security. (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.  

Position Summary: Security Operations Director is a leadership role focused on developing, implementing, and coordinating security strategies, policies, and programs. This role often involves overseeing security personnel, implementing security policies and procedures, emergency response planning, compliance and regulations, staying informed with security treats, budget management.  Collaborate with other stakeholders and program leaders.  

Regular travel to operational locations is required to conduct site reviews, investigations, and training initiatives.

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
  •     Oversee daily security operations and manage security personnel.Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
  •     Design and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect organizational assets.Conduct regular risk assessments, security audits, and vulnerability assessments to identify potential security threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  •     Respond to and investigate security incidents and breaches.Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
  •     Train and supervise security staff.Establish security standards and best practices that align with the organization’s goals, needs and resources. 
  •     Manage security infrastructure, handle security incidents, and coordinate response and recovery efforts. Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to address security breaches effectively.
  •     Develop and conduct security training programs for employees to promote a culture of security awarenessMonitor and analyze security systems and technologies to ensure they are functioning optimally and effectively.
  •     Prepare reports and presentations for senior management detailing security status, incidents, and recommendations for improvementPromotes a security awareness culture across the organization, fostering an environment where risk identification and reporting are encouraged and valued by all stakeholders. 
  •     Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Supervisor. 

    Other Responsibilities:

  • 1.    
  • A balance of office-based work and frequent travel to operational sites, including residential care environments, field offices, and shelters.
  • 2.    
  • Maintain a flexible schedule based on organizational needs and site requirements.
  • 3.    
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
  • 4.    
  • Implement Compass Connections security protocols in case of an emergency.
  • 5.    
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and team decisions and operations.
  • 6.    
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the program operations.
  • 7.    
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections systems personnel handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times. 

    Requirements:1.    Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. 2.    Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. 3.    Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks. 4.    Demonstrate the ability to: a.    Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.b.    Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.c.    Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times. d.    Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. e.    Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.5.    Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and evaluate security management programs.6.    Excellent communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. 7.    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant risk management or safety tracking software.8.    Ability and willingness to travel regularly to program sites.9.    Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.   10.    Knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and procedures.
