Job Description
The armed Security Response Officer works collaboratively with security team and hospital staff to provide a safe environment for our stakeholders. Proactively addresses and de-escalates tense situations and/or conflict. Responds to requests for security assistance and works with law enforcement as needed. Enforces security policies and procedures of the hospital. Investigates incidents and prepares written reports. Provides security-related training and patrols the premises as needed. The primary role and responsibility will be that of the hospital's "first responder" capability. Will need to maintain certification with both lethal and non-lethal response capabilities as well as semiannual physical readiness testing and detention techniques.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid LA license and excellent driving record.
- Five years of experience in military, law enforcement or security is preferred.
- Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) active certification is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Responds to, de-escalates and investigates situations reported to Security in accordance with hospital-approved methods as required. Alerts appropriate individuals of security matters while maintaining confidentiality of involved parties to the degree possible without putting others in harm.
- Maintains knowledge of various department locations, buildings, access routes and admitting requirements. Works with hospital management to identify the specific security needs of each location and/or department and responds appropriately.
- Contacts EBRSO authorities to investigate suspicious activities or security violations that require their jurisdictional response.
- Maintains knowledge of control panels, alarms, and related security equipment to provide area and visitor surveillance.
- Maintains a high level of vigilance while patrolling assigned areas, identifies suspicious activity and responds appropriately. Performs exterior patrols of hospital facilities using company vehicle.
- Performs timely data entry and completes written reports for accurate reporting using various software systems as assigned.
- Drives a security vehicle.
- Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.
Schedule:
Full-Time
SROs work both shifts rotating Days and Nights
Pay Range:
Hourly/Non-Exempt
$17.00 - $24.00; based on work experience
