Job Description

Position Overview

Our expanding tax team is adding a Senior Accountant, International Tax to focus on U.S. and international tax compliance and income tax provision, with the opportunity to participate in all aspects of taxation including domestic and international reporting. Join our dynamic, growing company and experience a broad range of challenging tax issues and compliance in the renewable energy industry. Work with a cross-functional team of tax professionals and external service providers to meet ongoing business tax requirements and obligations. This position is located in our downtown Chicago office and reports to the Director of Tax.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Canadian income tax compliance process, including reviewing 40+ Canadian income tax returns prepared by external service providers and preparing the Canadian income tax provision under ASC 740 for U.S. financial reporting
  • Lead all Canadian GST/HST compliance matters, including preparing monthly tax returns, reconciling monthly accruals, and handling audits and notices
  • Lead all U.S. international tax compliance matters, including information gathering, data analysis, and review of all foreign entities' U.S. tax returns (Form 5471, 8865, and 8858) prepared by external service providers
  • Assist preparing foreign tax credit calculations and Form 1118
  • Manage processes for transfer pricing and country-by-country reporting, including coordination with our local offices for local notification filings
  • Review Schedule K-2 and K-3 for complex partnership tax returns
  • Prepare and review international income tax provision (ASC 740)
  • Oversee and support the Company's international offices for their in-country tax compliance
  • Responsible for preparing and filling forms and applications, including U.S. residency certificates, Form 1042, and Form 8832
  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the organization (e.g., accounting, legal, finance operations, development teams from various countries) to achieve common goals and improve processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting, or related field; Master's Degree in Taxation and/or CPA is a plus
  • 4+ years of progressive tax experience in a multinational company or professional firm
  • Proficiency with software and system applications (Excel, MS Word, etc.), and ability to learn internal applications
  • Analytical, solutions-focused mindset with the proven ability to work independently as well as collaborate cross-functionally
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional technical skills and analytical capabilities with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the energy, power, real estate, or infrastructure space is a plus
  • Experience working both in-house and at an external service provider
  • Experience supporting businesses in Quebec is desirable

Base Pay

100,000.00 - 120,750.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 20% - 30%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
