Job Description

Senior Associate / Director, AI Architecture & Agent EngineeringData & Intelligence | FaropointLocation: Miami or New York (Hoboken)About FaropointFaropoint is a vertically integrated real estate investment manager focused on last-mile industrial assets across major U.S. markets. We combine local execution with proprietary technology and data infrastructure to acquire and operate portfolios of small-to-medium industrial warehouses that are typically overlooked by institutional investors. As part of our next phase of growth, we are building an enterprise-grade AI and intelligence platform that embeds automation, reasoning, and decision support directly into investment and operating workflows. This role will help design, scale, and govern that platform.

The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Associate / Director of AI Architecture & Agent Engineering to lead the design and evolution of Faropoint’s agentic AI systems. This is a hands-on architecture role responsible for defining how large language models, tools, data, and workflows interact in production. You will turn complex, high-stakes business processes—such as underwriting analysis, lease abstraction, tenant credit evaluation, and market intelligence—into reliable, observable, and secure AI-driven systems that improve decision-making at scale. The role has executive visibility and real ownership over how AI is deployed inside the firm.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and architect multi-step, multi-agent AI workflows with clear state management, tool use, memory, and failure handling.
  • Build and deploy agentic systems using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent approaches.
  • Define standards for prompts, tools, routing, retries, guardrails, and system behavior.
  • Design and deploy AI workflows on AWS, leveraging services such as Bedrock, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, and API Gateway.
  • Own the architecture for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), integrating structured data, documents, embeddings, and knowledge graphs where appropriate.
  • Implement observability and evaluation for AI systems, including tracing, prompt versioning, cost monitoring, and quality measurement.
  • Establish secure patterns for model access, data permissions, auditability, and governance.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into scalable, production-grade AI systems.
  • Mentor engineers and analysts building on the AI platform and help establish internal best practices and reusable patterns.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5–10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI systems roles.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-powered systems in production.
  • Strong experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain / LangGraph preferred).
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, ideally on AWS.
  • Expert-level Python and strong API/system integration skills.
  • Strong intuition for reliability, observability, latency, and cost tradeoffs.
  • Experience with tool-calling, structured outputs, and system-level prompt design.
  • Familiarity with RAG architectures, vector databases, and hybrid retrieval approaches.
  • Ability to explain complex AI systems to non-technical stakeholders and influence architectural decisions.
  • Strong business orientation and understanding of ROI, risk, and adoption.
Preferred
  • Experience in financial services, real estate, or investment workflows.
  • Prior ownership of an internal AI platform or agent framework.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).
  • Experience building internal web applications or business-facing tools.
  • Exposure to workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Step Functions, Temporal, n8n).
  • Experience establishing AI governance or internal AI standards.
Why This Role
  • Architect production-grade AI systems that directly impact a multi-billion dollar investment platform.
  • Build on an existing foundation—we’ve already automated high-impact workflows and saved hundreds of hours per week.
  • Influence how investment decisions are made across underwriting, asset management, and portfolio strategy.
  • Operate with meaningful technical autonomy and executive visibility.
  • Help define what enterprise agentic AI looks like in practice.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary in the $100,000-$130,000 range, commensurate with experience, plus discretionary bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan with company matching
  • Collaborative work environment in our Hoboken, NJ headquarters
  • Opportunity to work closely with senior leadership in a growing organization
  • Exposure to institutional real estate investment operations
