Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – AI/ML & Agentic ApplicationsAbout the RoleJoin Walmart’s mission to transform the in-store associate and manager experience throughAI-powered and Agentic AI solutions. Our team is building next-generation applications that enhance productivity, collaboration, and decision-making for millions of associates worldwide.As aSoftware Engineer, you’ll design and buildAgentic AI applicationsthat leveragemulti-agent orchestration frameworksandLarge Language Models (LLMs). You’ll integrate Generative AI into Walmart’sfederated GraphQL data gatewayand distributed systems, enabling store managers, team leads, and associates to solve real-world retail challenges at scale.Key Responsibilities1. Requirements Analysis & Scoping
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and classify requirements (functional, non-functional, emergent).
  • Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities between business needs and existing solutions.
  • Translate business objectives intoAgile-friendly user storiesand technical designs.
2. Solution Architecture & Design
  • Designscalable, distributed, and resilient AI/ML solutionsfor enterprise use.
  • Architectmulti-agent orchestration workflows, where specialized AI agents collaborate to solve complex tasks.
  • Convert high-level designs into detailed solution components (mock screens, pseudocode, functional logic).
  • Evaluate trade-offs across performance, scalability, and cost.
3. AI/ML & Agentic Development
  • Research, prototype, and implementAgentic AI applicationsleveraging frameworks likeLangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or Semantic Kernel.
  • Build and optimizemulti-agent orchestration pipelines, enabling task decomposition, coordination, and collaboration among AI agents.
  • Develop and fine-tune LLMs for Walmart-specific use cases.
  • ImplementRetrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, vector stores, embeddings, and query expansion techniques.
  • Applyadvanced prompt engineering, grounding mechanisms, and reasoning strategiesto improve AI accuracy.
4. Software Development & Testing
  • Write clean, maintainable, and secure code inPython, Java, JavaScript/Node.js.
  • Build backend services withSpring Boot, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, JMS).
  • Contribute tomobile-first associate experiences (iOS/Android).
  • Develop and executeautomated test casesto ensure performance, reliability, and security.
5. CI/CD, Monitoring & Troubleshooting
  • Build CI/CD pipelines formulti-agent workflows, model training, containerization, and deployment.
  • Deploy solutions toAzure Kubernetes Service (AKS)and Walmart Cloud Native Platform (WCNP).
  • Monitor and maintain production systems usingDynatrace, Open Observe, and telemetry.
  • Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree inComputer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience deployingAI/ML and agent-based applicationsinto production.
  • Proficiency inPython, Java, Node.js, and modern frameworks (Spring Boot, LangChain, LangGraph).
  • Experience withmulti-agent orchestration frameworksand LLM-powered workflows.
  • Strong knowledge ofcloud-native platforms(Azure, Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience withGraphQLand databases (Azure SQL, Cassandra, Cosmos DB).
  • Solid understanding ofdistributed systems, scalability, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience withCI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and automated testing.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience withAgentic AI developmentusing LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, or Semantic Kernel.
  • Practical knowledge ofmulti-agent orchestration strategies(task decomposition, role-based AI agents, collaborative planning).
  • Hands-on experience withvector databases, RAG pipelines, and LLM tuning.
  • Familiarity withmultimodal data (text, image, speech) integration.
  • Experience designingintelligent caching, observability, and policy enforcementfor AI systems.
  • Background inenterprise-scale mobile and cloud-native development.
