Position SummaryAs a Senior Director of Data Science, you will lead Walmart’s AI strategy and execution across Pricing, Merchandising, Supply Chain for International Markets. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive the design and delivery of AI-powered platforms and agentic intelligence systems that shape the future of how Walmart prices, sources, and moves products globally. You will guide a diverse team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and applied researchers to build scalable, responsible, and adaptive AI solutions that power Walmart’s global retail ecosystem—impacting millions of customers and associates across markets. What you’ll do...- Lead High-Impact Data Science TeamsBuild, mentor, and inspire world-class data science teams across Pricing, Merchandising, and Supply Chain domains, driving innovation and measurable business outcomes.
- Shape Walmart’s Global AI Platform StrategyDevelop and execute the roadmap for Walmart’s next-generation AI and data science platform—a unified ecosystem that scales across US and international markets to support pricing optimization, inventory planning, and omnichannel merchandising.
- Drive Agentic AI InnovationChampion the creation of agentic AI systems—autonomous, context-aware solutions that reason, act, and adapt dynamically to real-world business needs. These include intelligent decision agents for demand forecasting, supply chain resilience, pricing elasticity, and assortment personalization.
- Advance Data Science at ScalePartner with technology, product, and business leadership to operationalize advanced machine learning and causal inference models into production environments at enterprise scale.
- Deliver Global ImpactCollaborate with Walmart International’s data and product organizations to ensure alignment of AI model governance frameworks across markets, driving consistent insights and platform interoperability.
- Champion Responsible & Explainable AIEmbed responsible AI principles into Walmart’s modeling ecosystem—ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability across automated decision systems.
- You’re a visionary leader who blends business acumen with deep technical expertise.
- You’ve built large-scale, production-grade AI or platforms in complex, multi-market environments.
- You’re passionate about agentic AI and believe in creating intelligent systems that learn and adapt to dynamic business contexts.
- You thrive at the intersection of data strategy, product innovation, and global operations.
- You inspire teams to think big, execute precisely, and move fast with purpose.
- 15+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or AI-related fields, with 7+ years in senior leadership.
- Proven success leading AI and ML initiatives in global retail, eCommerce, or supply chain domains.
- Expertise in AI platforms, MLOps, and agentic AI systems using frameworks such as LangChain, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and reinforcement learning paradigms.
- Deep understanding of pricing science, demand forecasting, optimization, and retail merchandising.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with engineering and product teams to deliver enterprise-scale solutions.
- Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Operations Research, or related field.
