ROLE OVERVIEW

Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas.
  • Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas.

Team Oversight, Leadership &Talent Management

  • Commits to Servant Leadership, further developing skills identified in our Attitudes & Attributes.
  • Invests in mentorship – as a mentee and mentor.
  • Manages a department or small unit that includes multiple teams led by Managers and/or Assistant Directors.
  • Responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for department to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results.
  • Typically has hiring, firing, promotion and reward authority within own area, in accordance with Corporate Guidelines, in accordance with Delegation of Authority Policy.

Strategy and Organizational Impact

  • Manages department or small unit that includes multiple teams led by Directors and/or Managers.
  • Owns the execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of the department.
  • Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.
  • Requires ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

 Focus, Innovation and Complexity

  • Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or services to enhance performance of department or unit.
  • Responsible for ensuring organized and streamlined interaction and communications between Associates across multiple departments.
  • Commits to the project management process. Strategically considering business case, resource investment, change management, and implementation elements at all stages of projects when a part of a project team.
  • Considers the business impact of decision making on multiple areas of the organization.
  • Communicates within and outside of the System, including partners, customers, or vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements evidence-based clinical programs and initiatives.
  • Fosters development and collaboration of inter-professional care team model among clinical consultants.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary care team members on quality initiatives and quality improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates with organizational members to support care coordination and transitions.
  • Conducts ongoing analysis/audit/assessment of consultant performance for continued process improvements and improved efficiency. Prepares routine and special reports referencing audit findings and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes compliance with industry standards and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Develop, revise and implement nursing practices that meet and exceed regulatory requirements. Promotes strategic partnerships with community organizations to improve patient outcomes and the health of the communities served.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in regulations and practice and directs appropriate response to changes.
  • Provides direction to and coordinates nurse leadership training and development to ensure that Inpatient Services is strategically positioned to offer clinical service models to meet needs of community and healthcare continuum.
  • Contributes to shared governance model through collaborative efforts, including but not limited to participation in committees, workgroups, and projects within the System.
  • Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
  • Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Communicates well with other associates, patients, family members, internal and external partners, providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
  • Detailed knowledge of policies and regulations in post-acute patient care settings.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations for skilled nursing centers.
  • Knowledge of program implementation and evaluation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current active Registered Nurse licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a RN managerial capacity with a proven track record of success

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, associates and visitors.
