Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of electrical system design from concept through construction while working on technically complex and historically significant projects. You will join a multi-disciplinary team, mentor junior engineers, and deliver practical, real-world solutions that directly support client needs.

In this role, you will

  • Lead electrical design for new and renovated buildings, including lighting, lighting controls, and power distribution
  • Serve as assistant project manager, supporting schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Conduct field investigations, code analysis, and develop innovative design solutions
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and engage directly with clients
  • Ensure constructability in active, operational facilities
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to talent development
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • 10–20 years of professional electrical engineering design experience (lighting, power, controls)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
  • Experience with medium-voltage distribution preferred
  • Familiarity with federal sector projects (UFC, UFGS, FAR) a plus
  • RCDD certification beneficial
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, AGI32, SKM, or EasyPower required
  • Strong leadership, project management, and client communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship required (no dual citizenship) due to government project work
  • Ability to perform fieldwork, including physical site visits
  • Client relationships in NC, SC, Mid-Atlantic, or South-Central U.S. preferred
  • Experience with higher education projects and NC State Construction Office systems a plus
