GE Vernova’s Greenville Technology Lab is seeking a Senior Facility Electrical Engineer to lead and advance the electrical infrastructure supporting our world-class test laboratories. This role requires deep expertise across MV, and LV systems, with a focus on electrical generation, protection, and medium-voltage distribution equipment. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience from large-scale industrial facilities and capital projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and innovative electrical solutions.What You’ll DoYou will be responsible for the Greenville test labs’ electrical infrastructure, spanning from 15 kV feeds down to 120 V and DC control systems. This includes transformers, switchgear, MCCs, distribution panels, load banks, UPS/DC systems, and specialized test equipment.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Champion electrical safety practices, including LOTO procedures, NFPA 70E compliance, and arc flash mitigation strategies.
- Design & Engineering: Lead facility electrical system design, commissioning, operations, and troubleshooting across MV/LV systems.
- Project Leadership: Provide primary technical direction for facility-based projects, coordinating with GE Vernova teams, EPCs, and vendor partners.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical and process engineers to integrate electrical systems into broader facility designs.
- Vendor & Package Management: Manage electrical equipment packages end-to-end, including RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawing reviews, FATs, and commissioning.
- Technical Documentation: Develop detailed electrical specifications, load lists, one-line/three-line diagrams, area classifications, and technical procedures.
- System Studies: Perform advanced electrical studies (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, motor starting, arc flash) using ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
- Global Standards Compliance: Apply NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API, OSHA, and other international standards to facility designs.
- Mentorship: Act as a senior technical resource, guiding junior engineers and technicians.
- Communication: Prepare clear technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and external customers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in facility or industrial power systems.
- Proven track record in electrical construction, inspection, and troubleshooting during installation and commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with MV/LV systems including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS/DC systems, generators, VFDs, and protection relays.
- Advanced proficiency in electrical system modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
Eligibility Requirements
- This role is 100% onsite at the Greenville, SC Technology Lab.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.
Desired Characteristics
- 10+ years of experience in electrical system design, FEED, and detailed engineering for large-scale facilities (oil & gas, petrochemical, hydrogen, refining, EPC).
- Demonstrated leadership in managing vendor packages, electrical buildings, and power distribution centers.
- Strong grounding, cable sizing, breaker coordination, and electrical room layout expertise.
- Experience with power generation facilities, transmission/distribution systems, and high-voltage equipment testing.
- Working knowledge of global electrical codes and standards (NEC, CEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API, ABS, OSHA).
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Understanding of electric grid operations and electrical control systems.
