Job Description
What you'll do:
- Support the development of the aircraft's Landing Gear & Brake Control Systems.
- Support the design, build, and implementation of flight hardware, test stands, procedures and reports, for qualification, certification, and production applications.
- Team responsibilities include the landing gear, brake system, wheels, and tires.
- Own the technical direction of the designs, as well as the management of their delivery, conformity, test, and certification.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manage technical deliverables.
- Performance analysis, eg: braking energy, multibody dynamic landing analysis.
- Write, review and conduct tests at the equipment and system level.
- Flight test data review.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering (or related)
- 5+ years in mechanical design, Landing Gear design, Brake system design, or related experience
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership or leadership in an engineering project
- Demonstrated ability to seek out key (missing) information for challenging tasks
Relevant skills include:
- Mechanical design and drawing generation using CAD tools
- Kinematic analysis and optimization
- Structural analysis utilizing hand calculations and finite element methods
- Design for manufacturing and assembly
- Experience in areas such as:
- GD&T for mechanical systems.
- Design for 14 CFR Part 23/27 compliance to systems requirements.
- Structural analysis utilizing hand calculations and finite element methods.
- Materials selection inclusive of alloys, heat treatments, allowables, and surface treatments.
- Siemens NX CAD and Simcenter FEA tools.
- Analyses: Modal, nonlinear and linear buckling, fatigue.
- Exhibits ownership
- Ability to thrive within ambiguity
Bonus qualifications:
- Siemens NX CAD and Simcenter or Ansys FEA tools
- Familiarity with PDM systems
- Familiarity with GD&T
- Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 23 & Part 27 regulations
- MSC Adams
- Proficiency in Matlab, Python, Mathcad.
- Hands-on machine shop or mechanic experience (professional or hobby)
- RTCA DO-160, structural, or actuated mechanism testing experience
- Demonstrated interest in aviation, including pilot training/license
