Job Description

Senior ParalegalLocation: Amherst, NYThe salary range for this position is between $68,000-$82,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications and location.  Final compensation will be determined during the interview process. 

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Paralegal to support our General Counsel in managing complex legal matters, ensuring compliance, and streamlining legal operations.  This role requires strong judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders. 

Position Purpose:Assist General Counsel in providing advanced legal and administrative support to the company. The Senior Paralegal will handle administrative tasks associated with contracts and legal matters, including proofreading and review of agreements, employment law, immigration, intellectual property, and contract lifecycle tracking. This role requires significant experience in business law and the ability to work independently on sophisticated legal and administrative tasks.

Essential Functions:

  • Proofreading, reviewing, and managing complex contracts and agreements under the guidance of General Counsel
  • Conducting advanced legal research and summarizing findings for General Counsel
  • Utilizing existing legal templates and preparing documents for General Counsel’s review and approval
  • Coordinating with internal departments to gather information necessary for legal compliance and contract preparation
  • Managing the General Counsel’s calendar, legal requests, and docket
  • Tracking the lifecycle of contracts and legal matters across the organization
  • Maintaining organized records and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive legal documents
  • Maintain accurate records in contract management systems and ensure timely updates.
  • Handling highly confidential matters with discretion due to the sensitivity of issues managed by the Office of the General Counsel
  • Providing support on employment law matters, including compliance and documentation
  • Assisting with immigration-related filings and documentation for employees
  • Supporting intellectual property portfolio management, including trademarks and copyrights
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Professional integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.

Your Qualifications:

  • Paralegal Certificate or Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a paralegal in a corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Expertise in contract review, proofreading, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong legal research skills and ability to prepare accurate, well-structured documents.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive, confidential matters
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems.
