Job Description
The primary function of the Senior Tax Manager is to work with the Associate Vice President of Tax to manage the income tax function including the completion of the company's consolidated federal income tax return and state income and franchise tax returns, prepare quarterly estimated income tax calculations, and the company's ASC740 and FIN48 calculations. This position will also work on various other tax projects throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
Prepare or oversee the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return and multi-state income tax returns and supporting tax calculations.
Lead preparation and review of the quarterly ASC 740 and FIN 48 calculations. Including deferred tax roll-forwards and supporting schedules.
Prepare/review provision-related financial statement disclosures and support SEC reporting requirement.
Maintain and review tax account reconciliations and ensure alignment with GAAP and internal controls (SOX).
Review and analyze state income and franchise tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payment calculations, and other tax returns and compliance calculations.
Assist with the implementation of tax provision software to facilitate the preparation of quarterly ASC 740 and FIN 48 calculations.
Conduct thorough tax research and prepare analysis of various findings in a clear and concise manner.
Assist with tax audits and tax planning projects.
Oversee Unclaimed Property reporting.
Manage the filing of the Company's Annual US State and Canadian Provincial Reports.
Other projects as they arise.
Qualifications:
7 or more years in public accounting or private industry experience with increasing responsibilities in Tax. Experience should include tax planning and research, income tax return preparation, and strong experience with ASC 740.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA (strongly preferred) and/or Master's in Taxation a plus.
Prior experience in a publicly traded environment, including SEC reporting and /or SOX controls.
Experience with tax technology and automation tools including OneSource, Alteryx and Excel modeling.
Must be detail oriented and able to organize and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (ability to translate technical issues into business impact).
