We are seeking a Service Technician Apprentice to join our HVAC & Electrical Service Department. This entry‑level role supports our service technicians in delivering high‑quality preventive maintenance, repair, and installation services for mission‑critical equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in learning the HVAC, electrical, or data center service trade.

Summary/Objective:

The Apprentice assists Service Technicians in performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and electrical systems. This role involves hands‑on work in the field, tool and equipment handling, material staging, and administrative support to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to customer satisfaction.

  • Field Support

  • Assist technicians with HVAC and electrical preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Help load/unload tools, equipment, and materials for daily jobs.

  • Set up work areas, run tools and equipment, and ensure safe worksite conditions.

  • Deliver materials and parts to job sites as needed.

  • Equipment & Tool Handling

  • Maintain service tools and keep vehicles stocked and organized.
  • Assist with inventory checks and material handling in the warehouse.

  • Documentation & Communication

  • Record materials used and assist with work order documentation.
  • Communicate with technicians and supervisors to coordinate tasks.

  • Safety

  • Follow all company safety guidelines and OSHA standards.
  • Always wear appropriate PPE on job sites.

Competencies:

  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn a trade.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of environments (indoor, outdoor, in mechanical/electrical rooms).

Supervisory Responsibility:

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this role.

Work Environment:

This role involves fieldwork at customer sites, which may require working in hot or cold conditions, tight spaces, and standing for long periods. Travel to job sites in the Northern Virginia area is expected.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders, bend, kneel, and reach as required for job tasks.

Position Type:

Full-time, non-exempt. Work hours follow the service department schedule and may include occasional overtime.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • No prior trade experience required - we will train the right candidate.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in HVAC, electrical, construction, or facilities maintenance is a plus.
  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred; Type I, II, or III accepted). Candidates without certification will be required to obtain it within 6-12 months of hire with company support.

Compu Dynamics Pay Range

$16-$25 USD
