Shift Lead - Grinding Days

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
• Adhere to safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements, defined by Amsted Rail, outlined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program
• Maintain the capability to perform and a comprehensive knowledge of all job functions related to department production
• Coordinate with Material Handling and Tooling personnel to ensure the required parts, supplies and raw materials are staged to support scheduled production requirements
• Coach employees toward common objectives while applying sound motivational and corrective techniques including employee counseling, disciplinary action and recognition for good work
• Balance daily departmental production requirements and workforce production assignments
• Lead production teams in the training and auditing of standard work, safety practices and quality products, through strong leadership and mentoring skills
• Ensure production results into SAP, Microsoft Excel, and completes other related reports
• Comply with and enforce all company quality policies, specification, regulations and instructions
• Champion company principles in 6S, continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing
• Maintain throughput requirements by ensuring team members are productive, maximizing equipment up time and to ensure adequate component flow
• Inspect parts for conforming or non-conforming product and segregate product in accordance with quality standards
• Notify supervisors, engineering or maintenance personnel of production problems, alarms or faults that cannot be resolved in a timely manner and actively participate in identifying and correcting these problems
• Verify ongoing area maintenance and housekeeping tasks are completed by production personnel, as directed by standard work instructions
