Job Summary:
A Social Services Coordination Supervisor oversees and coordinates the management of a variety of complex client cases involving the provision of social, health, vocational, rehabilitation or related services to City residents. Work of this class involves supervising case management and office support staff.
Incumbents receive general supervision from an administrative superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed primarily in an office where normal working conditions are encountered, but may involve site visits to clinics, homes and community settings. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
Minimum Qualifications:
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in vocational rehabilitation, health, human services, nursing or a closely related health or social service field.
AND
Experience: Have five years of experience in coordinating, monitoring and processing cases involving the provision of health, social, vocational or rehabilitation services to clients, two years of which must have been in a team-leader capacity.
OR
Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the functions, resources and services of public and private community, social service and health agencies.
- Knowledge of individual, age and other specific group and community needs and available resources.
- Knowledge of social, public health, medical, rehabilitation and educational resources.
- Knowledge of case management practices.
- Knowledge of interview and investigation techniques.
- Skill in overseeing and coordinating the work of a human services case management unit processing client cases, reviewing and analyzing client records, monitoring the implementation and progress of recommended care and ensuring that progress, recovery or treatment complies with professional standards.
- Skill in explaining City, State and private services and programs to individuals, business and community groups.
- Skill in assessing complex client problems, determining corrective strategies and resolutions and following through to ensure problems are resolved.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effectively liaisons with people of varied backgrounds, including clients, families, neighbors, government representatives and public and private community, institutions, service providers and personnel.
- Ability to prepare narrative and statistical reports and ensure that records are maintained.
- Ability to deal with emergency or crisis situations with calm, tact and dispatch.
- Ability to operate and utilize standard business pc equipment and software programs.
- Ability to train others in work processes and procedures.
- Administrative and supervisory ability.
- Ability to monitor and recommend a budget.
Additional Information
Background Check
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
Probation
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
Eligibility
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
Education Accreditation
Applicants' education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
Selection Process

Examination Process
