About the Role
TAAF is seeking a creative and mission-driven Social Video Creator to bring our stories, values, and impact to life through compelling video content. The Video Content Creator will be responsible for shooting, producing, and editing high-quality short- and long-form video content for digital platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. The ideal candidate will play a key role in helping TAAF push further into video across various social media platforms, both current and emerging.
They will be a visual storyteller with a strong creative eye and meaningful experience developing video content from concept through post production. This role reports to the Social Media Strategist in the Communications and Marketing team to ensure that video content aligns with TAAF’s brand voice, advances organizational goals, and amplifies the voices of AANHPI communities. The right candidate will approach their work with creativity, strategy, and a commitment to transparency and accountability. They will embrace a culture of learning, lead with compassion and gratitude, and value inclusion and collaboration in decision-making. Most importantly, they will be deeply committed to understanding and addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities through TAAF’s pillars of change.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Production
- Conceptualize and pitch story-driven video ideas that align with TAAF’s mission, initiatives, and campaigns.
- Play a key role in increasing brand awareness, driving audience growth, and achieving marketing objectives through compelling video storytelling.
- Develop, shoot, edit, and produce original video content for digital campaigns, social media, and live or virtual events.
- Collaborate with the social media strategist to create visual and narrative assets that support ongoing content focused on education, AAPI community issues and stories and TAAF’s own research and initiatives. Transform raw event footage into polished, brand-aligned videos using motion graphics, music, and sound design, ensuring all content meets accessibility and inclusion standards.
- Willingness to be on camera, if concept requires.
Digital Integration
- Optimize video content for current and emerging social channels, including formatting, captioning, and timing.
- Support the development of content calendars and cross-channel digital campaigns to enhance reach, engagement, and storytelling impact.
- Analyze content performance metrics (views, retention, engagement) and translate insights into actionable improvements in editing, storytelling, and distribution tactics - ultimately increasing engagement, growth in followers/subscribers, and improve retention rate.
- Stay current on emerging video trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve content strategy and production workflows.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 4-6 years of experience in video production, filmmaking, or multimedia storytelling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full video production lifecycle, including concept development, scripting, shooting, editing, and final delivery across diverse formats and audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- A portfolio showcasing a variety of video styles (e.g., interviews, documentary-style, social-first content, explainer videos).
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar editing and motion graphics tools.
- Experience with ISO and DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for on-site and in-studio shoots.
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and composition.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards for video (captioning, contrast, screen reader compatibility, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working Hours
- Standard workweek is 25 hours, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
Location
- New York City and San Francisco-based staff work in the office 3 days per week, and the other days remotely.
Benefits
- Anticipated hourly rate for this position is $50.00 per hour
