Job Title: Social Worker
Classification: Full-Time/Exempt
Reports to: Director of Community Health Outreach
Salary: $52,000 - $57,000
Summary: Social Worker provides a comprehensive holistic approach to coordinate social support and ancillary services for clients experiencing all forms commercial sexual exploitation and/or labor trafficking.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis services and personal advocacy directly to victims of crime to speed up their recovery and aid them through the criminal justice process.
- Dedicated to building continued collaborations with organizations to ensure individuals experiencing commercial sexual exploitation and/or labor trafficking are properly identified and referred for appropriate housing and essential support services through Red Cord.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to focus on positive behavior change related to high-risk behaviors and improving their quality of life, including mental health and substance use.
- Assesses client and family psychosocial needs; develops service plans, implements a range of interventions that focuses on victim safety planning.
- Documents client/family status, diagnosis, treatment plan, goals, and interventions, evaluation results, observations, and progress in medical record.
- Engaging clients through outreach which involves building a trusting relationship with the client and eligible family members by providing on-going support to help the client function in the least restrictive, most natural environment.
- Assisting victims in stabilizing their lives after a victimization by providing them with safety and security.
- Navigate emergency shelter and transitional housing for clients in need of housing support.
- Assist with securing employment, including obtaining employment counseling, occupational training, job retention counseling, and counseling concerning re-entry into the workforce.
- Actively works to eliminate barriers and help integrate into the community by linking individuals and family members with services such as transportation, counseling, childcare services, case management, and other assistance.
- Community education events, presentations, and training to raise awareness on commercial sexual exploitation and labor trafficking. Acts as a resource for facilitating communication when necessary.
- Serves as an advocate and liaison with families, criminal justice system, community agencies and others as needed to ensure continuity of care.
- Facilitates support groups to promote social connectedness and teach life skills to encourage self-sufficiency.
- On-Call crisis response - staff rotate coverage to provide screening, assessments, crisis intervention, and supportive care to clients for evening, night, weekend, and holiday on-call duty.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must have current and valid Driver's License and the ability to be insured
- Master's degree in Social Work. LMSW preferred.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of populations in a diverse community.
- Ability to initiate and maintain positive working relationships with CBWF staff and other organizations.
- Good communication skills, such as listening well, and using language appropriately.
- Ability and willingness to provide emotional support, encouragement, and motivation to patients.
- Procures, coordinates, and monitors the delivery of needed services in accord with a service plan and identifies levels of need.
- Provides consultation and information to service providers and health care professionals and/or client family members to ensure specific needs are met through a coordinated system of care.
- Provides appropriate referrals and follow-ups according to client needs.
- Be well informed about all agency services available to clients, such as behavioral health and substance abuse treatment options and make proper referrals to needed services.
- Provides crisis intervention as needed; trauma informed response; Survivor informed.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of time.
Physical Requirements:
- Available to work flexible schedule which may include some nights and/or weekends.
- Night, weekend, and holiday on-call schedule on a rotating basis.
- Work will be performed primarily in offices, public buildings, schools, churches, medical facilities, family homes and automobiles that will vary considerably with regard to the extent of heating, cooling, or physical comforts/protections.
- Position could require long hours of standing or sitting at a computer workstation.
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs and be able to set up tables, chairs, and pop canopies for events in addition to moving equipment needed for specific job assignments.
- May encounter architectural barriers (including stairs), animals not on a leash unsanitary living conditions, extreme heat, or cold and contagious disease.
