Job Description

Sonographer (Obstetrics)

Location: Goodyear, Arizona

Schedule: Standard business hours

Setting: Outpatient Women’s Health / OB/GYN Clinic

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation & Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sonographer specializing in Obstetrics. In this role, you will perform pelvic and obstetrical ultrasounds as well as procedures such as sonohysterograms, amniocentesis, and chorionic villi sampling. You’ll be an essential part of the patient care team, ensuring accurate imaging, supporting physicians with findings, and providing compassionate care in an outpatient clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review daily ultrasound schedule and prepare patient and referral information
  • Enter ultrasound orders into Athena to ensure system communication
  • Escort patients to the ultrasound suite and explain procedures
  • Prepare patients and rooms for ultrasounds and procedures
  • Perform ultrasounds, capturing all necessary images, measurements, and Doppler samples
  • Generate reports in Viewpoint and ensure accurate data transfer
  • Present images and preliminary findings to physicians when abnormalities are detected
  • Bill for completed ultrasound services
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment, including probe cleaning and sterilization
  • Monitor supply needs and request orders as necessary
  • Report equipment issues with GE, Philips, Viewpoint, or office systems
  • Participate in quality assurance tasks, HIPAA, and OSHA trainings
  • Support training and mentoring of new sonographers

Qualifications

  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification (required)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (required, must be maintained)
  • Nuchal Translucency certification (required)
  • Minimum of 10 ultrasound CMEs annually
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage high-pressure or emergent situations with professionalism
  • Patient-centered approach with strong teamwork and collaboration skills
