Job Description
Delano Public Schools is seeking dedicated Paraprofessionals to support students with disabilities in academic, social, behavioral, and functional areas. Paraprofessionals may work in general education or special education classrooms under the direction of licensed special education teachers. Multiple positions are available, with placement matched to candidate strengths and preferences. On rare occasions, duties may include evening or weekend assignments.
Your Role Will Include:
- Assisting teachers with lessons, instruction, and classroom organization.
- Supporting students’ academic, emotional, behavioral, and functional needs individually or in groups.
- Monitoring student behavior and promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Collecting and reporting student data to support educational goals.
- Collaborating with colleagues to enhance student success.
- Supervising or assisting with extracurricular activities and/or bus routes.
- Performing other duties as assigned to promote effective school operations and student support.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- One of the following:
- 60 college credits
- Associate degree or higher
- Paraeducator Certification or complete district-provided Paraeducator training and assessment prior to start date
- Experience working with youth and knowledge of teaching best practices is preferred
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Patience, flexibility, reliability, and a passion for student success
- Reliable transportation, consistent attendance, and successful completion of background check
Salary and Benefits:
- Pay starts at $19.99 – $22.81/hour.
- District contribution toward health insurance or $1.75/hr cash-in-lieu option.

- Training provided.
Locations & Shift Times:
- Monday–Friday 32.5 hours per week, 6.5 hours/day on student contact days, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
- Typical shifts: 7:50 AM–2:50 PM or 8:00 AM–3:00 PM (specific times may vary).
- Locations: Delano High School, Intermediate School, Elementary School, and Community Education.
