Job Description

Summary:

The Academic Assessment Specialist plays a key role in assisting with data collection initiatives and supporting the coordination of a comprehensive system for academic program reviews. Working closely with the Assistant Vice President and in collaboration with academic departments and administrative units, this position helps facilitate academic guidance and provides data support for student learning outcomes assessment. Responsibilities include assisting with project planning and implementation, maintaining accurate records, supporting communication and reporting processes, and contributing to evaluation and compliance activities. This role emphasizes cross-departmental collaboration to ensure alignment with accreditation and regulatory standards.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Support the collection, analysis, and distribution of assessment results.
  • Consult with departments on assessment to ensure legitimacy and rigor of data.
  • Provide guidance and data support for student learning outcomes assessment.
  • Support accreditation reporting.
  • Support college strategic planning and its implementation.
  • Conduct faculty professional development sessions on assessment for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in ongoing formative and annual summative project evaluation.
  • Monitor and evaluate plans for project goals and objectives, ensure continuous improvement and maintain high accountability for project outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, Department Chairs, Directors, and other important constituents on campus.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration, and external agencies.
  • Strong organizational skills, presentation skills, the ability to track outcomes, and provide information in compliance with federal requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills, as well as demonstrated business analysis, systems data modeling, analytic and consultative, and project management skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations and to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams, and collaborate across organizational lines, and build relationships.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree with 3-5 years of experience working in academic assessment or with institutional data collection projects.
  • Or a Master's Degree with 2-3 years of experience in a related field working in academic assessment or with institutional data collection projects.
  • Knowledge of accreditation policies and procedures.
  • Preferred knowledge of higher education accreditation organizations preferred (e.g. SACSCOC, IACBE, NASM).
