About this role
Responsible for maintaining the College key management database system and key distribution processes including updating key user records, stamping new keys, and issuing and collecting keys. Generates key distribution reports and conducts key audits.What a day of an Key Management Specialist looks like:
Maintains key cabinet inventory and updates key management system data. Conducts audits and reviews data for accuracy.
Conducts physical inventories of keys to confirm accuracy of the key management system.
Creates asset tags for all new locking furniture and cabinets. Enters data in key management system.
Verifies staff have needed keys. Collects keys when staff separate from the College.
Conducts monthly new employee orientation on key procedures. Assigns and issues security lockdown keys.
Reviews campus incident reports to identify when rekeying is necessary for lost keys. Completes new key requests and schedules lock rekeying.
Trains staff in the use of the key management database.
Travels to other college locations for key audits and conduct training.
Acquires knowledge of other staff duties and serve as a backup as necessary.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED
One year of related experience
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Skilled in:
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Delivering a high level of customer service
Ability to:
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, and staff.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service.
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Regular physical attendance required
Valid Florida Driver’s License
Preferred, but not a must:
Education and Experience:
Experience as a facilities or key management specialist
Knowledge of:
Key management systems
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Reach and grasp objects
Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Stand for extended periods of time
Use of video display terminal
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
Communicate information orally and in writing
Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
Proofread and check documents for accuracy
Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury
Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions
Operate a motor vehicle
Work a fluctuating work schedule
