Job Description
SWJ Technology specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking a Specialist of New Model Launch Engineers for a client in the automotive industry, based in Montgomery AL hat requires onsite presence and occasional travel. If you’re eager to grow your career and make a meaningful impact on exciting projects, we look forward to your application.PURPOSE: Technical Specialist for installing new tooling for assigned area in an automotive manufacturing environment. Job requirements include the coordination of new model and tooling launches as well as improvement of current production processes.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as technical expert of assigned area during new vehicle and/or tooling launches.
- Conduct feasibility studies and detailed confirmations of new manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate and lead project activities, including design, supplier selection, and implementation phases.
- Coordinate launch schedules and report progress and issues to senior management.
- Support the launch of the new vehicle during initial production stage.
- Continually review technical developments in area of responsibility and propose new technology projects as appropriate.
- FMEA development and implementation.
- Resolve safety, process and quality issues on new model launches.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a design or launch/sustaining engineer, preferably in automotive (high volume
- 0 – 10 years job related experience preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Tool and Die training / experience preferred
- FMEA knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in CAD modeling. CATIA V5/V6 experience a plus but not mandatory.
- GD and T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing – Dimensional Control)
- High attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
