Job Description Summary:

The purpose of this position is to officiate and supervise the adult men's, women's, or co-ed recreational games/leagues. We're specifically looking an enthusiastic volleyball official to officiate our adult coed and women's leagues.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all participants.

  • Uses appropriate disciplinary techniques with participants and logs all incidents.

  • Effectively interacts and communicates with other officials, facility supervisor, program coordinator, participants, and other employees.

  • Accounts for equipment.

  • Must be able to remain composed in emergency situations and make sound judgment decisions during emergency and non-emergency situations.

  • Officiate league games.

  • Maintain a professional manner while on duty, and mediate disputes calmly and professionally.

  • Attend all trainings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Ability to provide excellent guest service to participants.

  • Ability to communicate effectively when enforcing policies, rules and regulations.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Promptness.

  • Ability to attend all necessary trainings.

  • Ability to speak/write/understand English.

  • Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned area and make judgments related to safety.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.

  • Clean and neat appearance.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills.

  • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of City of Boulder rules specific to sport being officiated.

  • Previous officiating experience.

  • Knowledge of sports including rules, skills, concepts, and game play.

  • CPR/ AED, First Aid certification.

  • Knowledge of injury prevention & treatment.

  • Formal training as an official.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in customer service.

  • Previous experience as a participant in an organized sports program.

Supervision Received: Recreation Program Coordinator

Supervision Exercised: None

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Mental and Physical Effort: Must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina, and flexibility to lift, carry or move a variety of objects up to 50 lbs. Must have sufficient hearing to be able to hear and discriminate differing sounds in a variety of situations. Sufficient vision to be able to discriminate between colors, size, and type of objects and people, both close and distant. Must have sufficient mobility to officiate kickball games including, running, crouching, jumping, bending, yelling, mechanics, etc.
