Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain human tumor cell lines in tissue culture (thawing, freezing, splitting cell lines). New CRISPR and lentiviral engineered cell lines are regularly being developed (e.g. knockout and knock-in mutation/insertions) that require maintenance such as pools and sub-cloning.This will be a great opportunity for the co-op/intern student to gain valuable TC experience and exposure to cell line engineering.
  • The co-op/intern student will assist in cellular assays and studies to help elucidate mechanism of action (MoA), with a focus on cell growth (proliferation) and biomarkers (TR-FRET, AlphaLISA, Western blot, ELISA).
  • The co-op/intern student will gain experience with the design, optimization, and execution of cellular assays, data analysis and communication of results in a team environment.
  • The co-op/intern student will learn documentation of experimental results in an electronic notebook and the use of data analysis and data archive systems.
  • The co-op/intern candidate will learn automation workflow procedures that support programs across the portfolio.
    • The co-op/intern student will gain exposure to using equipment such as the Echo, PHERAstar, Bravo, and MultiDrop Combi.
  • The co-op/intern student will gain valuable experience working in a collaborative team environment and interactions that contribute to a positive work environment, including safety, lab hygiene, and general lab duties such as stocking and reagent preparation.

Basic Requirements:

  • Current undergraduate student studying Biology or a related field
  • Fundamental understanding of basic biology concepts realized through lab work or relevant coursework
  • Experience with basic lab techniques is a plus (preparing buffers/solutions and dilutions, pipetting, and sterile technique; experience with PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blotting, and/or tissue culture is a plus); such experience may have been realized through a lab course or a prior internship.
