OVERVIEW:
Summary Description
The Sr 3D Space Artist is responsible for driving in-store sales for the DICK's Sporting Goods portfolio via supervising 3D content creation for multiple of the most business-critical merchandising or design categories. A Leader of People and strong designer who, through the consistent application of the DSG brand point of view, will lead 3d design projects that bring to life in-store aesthetics and strategies for use in internal/external concept pitches and walkthroughs with Senior Executive Leadership. Understands the strategies of all their internal customers' categories; passes their knowledge to other 3D Strategists and Artists during development of assigned projects, ensuring accuracy of 3D team execution prior to manager review and customer delivery.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Design Presentations, Renderings & Virtual Walkthroughs
- Use exceptional design skills to develop consistent, photorealistic 3D renderings, walkthroughs, and design presentations for new store designs, merchandise placement, shop-in-shop designs and fixture design initiatives for assigned categories of business/brand.
- Owns development of 3D content for 3-4 critical business units (Visual Merchandising) or corporate brands (Store Design), providing deliverables to one or more Visual Merchandising VP/Director; direct reports may claim ownership of 1-2 categories.
- • Responsible for 12-15 large business-critical projects, and many smaller ones, annually - planned (quarterly) and unplanned.
- Lead direct reports and other 3d Design Artists to consistently deliver all creative on time and as directed within technical requirements for Senior Executive presentation. Review work of direct reports with Manager for accuracy prior to delivery.
- In tandem with cross-functional Managers/Supervisors, helps lead the 3D design process with internal/external designers for Store Environment concepts and Merchandise Presentation initiatives.
- Supervises creation and maintenance of 3D team content libraries, ensuring adherence to approved standards and workflows developed by the team.
- Depending on specific oversight role, attend prototype & location-specific store design reviews with internal designers and outside firms, or merchandising Line Reviews with Visual Merchandisers and Merchants.
- Occasionally assist with seasonal store sets; utilizes time in stores to further educate teammates on store operations.
Leadership & Development
- Supervise up to 2 direct reports, providing regular and timely feedback to support teammate development and growth in role; deliver annual performance reviews & quarterly development check-ins. Coach and mentor as needed.
- Provide guidance to any 3D Designers working on their projects, holding all teammates accountable to meet deadlines.
- Manage execution responsibilities and workload of direct/indirect reports to achieve department deliverables on time, with quality. Assisting with content creation is generally secondary to ensuring smooth execution of group project.
- Supports the development of skills across the team; mentor and coach others on how to consistently apply to daily work. Works in tandem with 3D Designer to identify and research new technology/workflows; presents multiple well-researched options to Manager while including benefits to team and cost to company.
- Constantly coordinate with cross-functional partners to re-prioritize workload as initiatives appear and evolve.
- Maintain assignment statuses in project tracking software; provide regular updates and review deliverables with Manager.
- Assist Manager in identifying and interviewing new talent for 3D Designer roles.
- Oversee and support onboarding, training of new hires into 3D Designer roles. Supervise and execute creation of 3D team training materials for software and work processes.
- Supervise development of cross-functional workflow improvements that will benefit both 3D Team and internal clients.
