Sr. Director Of Controllership

America's Car-Mart is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of Controllership to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions across our vertically integrated used car retail and financing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, SOX compliance, and operational excellence while enabling scalable growth through strong governance.

What You'll Do

• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and industry-specific regulations. Coordinate with external auditors and lead the annual audit process.
• Accounting Operations: Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Support accounting for vehicle inventory, loan portfolios, securitizations, and reserves.
• Business Partnership: Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, IT, Legal, and Operations to drive process improvements and support strategic initiatives.
• Systems & Process Optimization: Drive automation and integration of accounting systems across dealership and finance platforms. Evaluate and enhance ERP and financial reporting systems.
• Team Leadership: Build and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required, MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience including public accounting and SEC reporting.
• Public company, consumer finance, or automotive retail experience highly preferred.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
