Job Description

We have a great opportunity for a Sr. Tax Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Federal Tax, the Sr. Tax Accountant will assist with the preparation and review of Crane Company's federal income tax return and associated quarterly tax provision. While the primary focus will be on federal tax matters, this role will gain exposure to state tax compliance, as well as tax planning initiatives.

The role is based in our corporate office in Stamford, Connecticut (easy access to I-95 and Metro North Railroad). The corporate office is a small, dynamic group who works closely as a team and is looking for people who can work together effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of Crane's consolidated federal tax return including certain Schedule M-3 adjustments, separate entity pro forma Forms 1120, sub-consolidated pro forma Forms 1120, and supporting schedules and disclosures.
  • As needed, assist in the preparation of Crane's consolidated and combined state tax returns
  • Prepare and review federal quarterly estimated tax payments and extension.
  • Perform computation of the quarterly and year-end tax federal and state provision computations.
  • Assist with federal and state audits.
  • Maintain the OneSource tax calendar.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects related to potential acquisitions, tax planning initiatives, and analysis of changes to tax law.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of corporate tax experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with an advanced degree and / or CPA desirable.
  • Experience with handling federal and state tax audits desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Highly organized self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and working overtime when required.
