Job Description
Come join the SMSC Cultural Center! The Sr. Retail Associate is responsible for a wide variety of front and back of house retail operations. The Sr. Retail Associate will work with back-office operations including creative buying and merchandise strategies, monthly inventory management, stocking & organizing storeroom and preparing reports. Job Overview: The Sr. Retail Associate is responsible for a wide variety of front and back of house retail operations. They will work with back-office operations including creative buying and merchandise strategies, monthly inventory management, stocking & organizing storeroom and preparing reports. They also provide assistance in seasonal planning, creative store displays and effective merchandising. The Sr. Retail Associate will also provide training and development for staff related to the POS and Inventory Management systems.
Create Your Path: The Work You'll Do
- Assists Retail leader in serving as buyer, meeting with vendors and artists to select goods that meet the retail scope of Merchandise and setting profit margins to price items for sale within approved budget.
- Serves as lead on duty as necessary.
- Ensures accurate inventory controls are maintained by conducting monthly inventory and reconciliation of merchandise.
- Utilizes POS software to accurately create, maintain, and discontinue merchandise in POS system.
- Create dynamic and seasonally appropriate merchandising displays.
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of retail customer service, sales, and merchandising background Knowledge of Dakota Indian history and culture obtained through coursework or on the job preferred.
- Knowledge of visual merchandising practices & principles.
- Knowledge of inventory control practices. Ability to verify, identify, and correct data & discrepancies in inventory management and sales reconciliation.
- Valid Class D driver's license with a good driving record may be required.
