Position Summary

This position plans, organizes, and implements intake coordination, psychosocial interventions and screenings for emotional well-being and mental health for pregnant and postpartum individuals. The Hermann Center is revitalizing treatment of children, perinatal parents, and the whole family through empowering parents and caregivers to nurture social and emotional foundations, strengthening parent-child relationships, and continuing to research and develop interventions that set a new standard of care within the community. We aim to provide the highest level of collaborative behavioral health support for children and families beginning as early as pregnancy.

As a core service of the Hermann Center, Perinatal Behavioral Health Service (PBHS) provides screening, evaluation, and treatment for parents who are experiencing pregnancy-related or postpartum stress, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. With the expansion into the Hermann Center, PBHS has developed tailored services for early intervention, prevention, and treatment of perinatal individuals.

  • Provides psychotherapy services for families of patients, focusing on family ability to understand and deal with case.
  • Conducts family therapy with participants in research study, including documentation and charting using computer-based systems.
  • Prepares psychosocial reports and maintains necessary records.
  • Phone intake coordination (managing referral list, reach out to patients, administering evidenced based screening tools, documenting, scheduling patients for services, and referrals).
  • Schedules patient appointments and provides telephone follow-up contact.
  • Facilitates referrals and community resources for patients/families.
  • Meets with psychiatrists, resource agents, and multidisciplinary team for meetings, in-services, and treatment planning (Hermann Center & PBHS staff).
  • Tracks programmatic data and prepares outcome reports.
  • Verifies insurance coverage for patients.
  • Answers inquiries from patients/families about community resources.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to department and community partners when needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

  • AAMFT, ASLPC, LCSW, LPC, CPC, LMFT or licensed Psychologist in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training as a mental health professional who is skilled in and with knowledge of the DSM V, utilizing CBT (TF CBT a bonus), SFT and/or IPT.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
