Job Description
Definition and Purpose
The Student Government Programming Student Assistant is responsible for assisting in the coordination and execution of campaigns, events, and general outreach efforts of ASI Student Government. The Student Government Programming Student Assistant provides support, education, and logistical assistance for all ASI Student Government training, policy, and recruitment and elections efforts. The role also handles a high volume of diverse requests, provides clerical assistance, and performs internal customer service functions.

Requirements
Educational Requirements and Qualifying Experience
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must carry 4 units.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Reliable, self-motivated, and works well with minimum supervision
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience working with high volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies and evaluate complex issues
- Knowledge of Windows based computer systems required (Microsoft Office); strong Excel skills require
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Outreach, Engagement & Promotion
- Provide logistical and administrative support to Student Government outreach efforts related to ASI recruitment and elections
- Maintain knowledge of written and oral communications methods and techniques to conduct and coordinate outreach activities for various audiences
- Support with the coordination of ASI Alumni Council programming and engagement
- Maintain knowledge of all programs, services, and amenities within ASI
- Represent Student Government at ASI events
Training & Development
- Support the implementation, evaluation, and tracking of training initiatives that enhance knowledge and skills among Student Government members
- Assist in documenting ASI Student Government processes and procedures
- Assist with maintaining and updating ASI Student Government training, recruitment, and elections materials
Program & Event Coordination
- Provide support for Student Government programs and events
- Assist with ASI voter registration and civic engagement efforts
- Assist with program area assessment efforts
- Assist with special projects
Administrative Support & Customer Service
- Provide general office assistance (printing, filing, mailing, copying)
- Ensure accurate and organized internal records, including SharePoint file management and historical data
- Handle confidential information and adhere to ASI policies and procedures
- Maintain a welcoming environment and provide positive customer service for all visitors and staff members
- Maintain prompt hours and follow attendance procedures
- Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, and retreats
- Other duties as assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities
The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.
Period of Employment
Employment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at any time and ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.
Background Check
This position is subject to a background check (including criminal records) as well as National Address Locater (Social Security Number [SSN] Trace), 7-year County Criminal Search in each county and/or state the applicant lived in based on the SSN Trace, National Criminal Database Search, Name Search, Employment Verification (All employers in past 7 years) and Education Verification (Highest Degree). Credit Reports, Motor Vehicle Record Check and Professional License Verification may also be required based upon the essential functions of the position.

Compensation and Hours
- Starting Pay Rate: $16.50 per hour
- Pay Range: $16.50 - $16.50 per hour
