Job Summary/Purpose: Student radiology technologists will aid with imaging exams. Will assist with diagnostic exams, performs clerical duties including record keeping, and maintains high quality services. Communicates effectively with patients/families and all care providers. Should be actively enrolled in an accredited Radiology program.
Student Radiology Technologist Job Duties:
Student radiology technologists will aid with imaging exams. Will assist with diagnostic exams, performs clerical duties including record keeping, and maintains high quality services. Communicates effectively with patients/families and all care providers.
- Performs all diagnostic routine procedures (minor trauma, fluoroscopy, minor surgery, and routine studies)
- Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical
- Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient
- Access patient’s condition and level of cooperation and makes appropriate judgment of proper care
- Notifies nurse and charts all infiltrates and reactions
- Quality check films before sending to radiologist to include markers, all pertinent information needed for appropriate dictation
- Writes additional information on request as needed
- Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times
- Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately
- Explains procedure to patient and introduces self and identifies department
- Informs patients and families of all delays
- (Including calling inpatient's room when procedure is delayed more than 1 hour)
- Assist other technologists when not busy in assigned area
- Charges procedure and supplies when exam is completed
- Adds surgical charges when needed
- Operates the PAC’s system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive
- Reports equipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech and documents confirmation numbers
- Maintain student confidentiality
- This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive
Minimum Training and Education:
High School Diploma
Enrolled in an active Radiology Technologist program.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

(Infrequent) Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.
Student Radiology Technologist transition to Radiology Technologist
Upon completion of the ARRT radiology registry, a promotion will be awarded from a student tech position to a vacant radiology technologist position. The promotion wage increase will be based on passing the radiology tech registry. Benefits and sign on bonus will also be awarded if eligible based on position.
