Job Description
Student and Academic Education Programs, with Educational Activities, is looking for an undergraduate student who is experienced in using WordPress to update and maintain websites. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, is creative, and is technically proficient. Additionally, the candidate will be detail-oriented and comfortable with multi-tasking.
This position is eligible for a 12-week summer internship. We will allow some flexibility around the daily and weekly schedule, and some opportunity for remote work on occasion.
The intern will also take part in IEEE's formal summer intern training program, with additional opportunity for education and mentorship. The intern will greatly increase their network and knowledge of potential career paths by the conclusion of the internship. Opportunities for professional growth and impact are practically limitless for a highly motivated intern.
Essential Duties
With the significant number of projects happening in IEEE Educational Activities, this is an exciting opportunity to acquire hands-on experience. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Updating and maintaining websites, including the tryengineering.org website.
- Assist with the development and implementation of tags and search engine optimization.
- Editing and proofreading copy and publications for the website.
- Produce and disseminate content for social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Collaborate with IEEE team to set appropriate tags as needed for analytics.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include administrative tasks in the office.
Qualifications
- Degree (or pursuing degree) in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, etc.
- Available to work in summer
- Experience creating, managing or updating using WordPress
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of initiative and motivation
- Technically savvy, with expertise with WordPress, as well as Google suite of tools and web-based programs
- Experience using social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks
