Title: Construction Intern

Division: Lifestyle Communities

Reports To: Project Executive

Status: Non-Exempt

General Summary

Under the general direction of the Project Executive, the Construction Intern will be assisting the construction department and learning key facets of how to oversee and manage construction development activities at residential development sites and other residential construction projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with studying project specifications.
  • Assists and learns how to ensure procurement of tools and materials are delivered at specified times to work schedules.
  • Assists and observes how to coordinate with subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phase of construction to prevent delays.
  • Assists construction management, land development, and engineering personnel with various projects as needed related to master planning, land development, production building, and contract administration.
  • Learns how to resolve construction problems and how to improve construction methods.
  • Learns how to ensure that construction conforms to specifications, quality assurance standards and alignment with project schedules.
  • Assists with preparation of reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuit of bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places.
