Monadnock Orthopaedic Associates is a specialty Orthopedic practice located on the Main Campus of Monadnock Community Hospital in scenic Peterborough, New Hampshire. The Monadnock Orthopaedic Associates team has been providing orthopedic care in the region for more than twenty years. We are board-certified specialists who have trained at some of the most respected hospitals in the country, including the Mayo Clinic, and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

We are excited to add to our growing team and are seeking a motivated Surgical Coordinator to join our compassionate, patient-centered team. This role plays a key part in ensuring every surgical experience, before, during, and after is organized, informed, and stress-free for our patients. Position Summary
Under the direction of our providers and Practice Manager, the Surgical Coordinator supports the daily operations of the orthopedic office by coordinating surgical schedules, communicating with patients, and ensuring all pre-operative and post-operative requirements are completed accurately and on time. This role combines strong administrative skills with exceptional patient service and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and maintain all orthopedic surgical scheduling in collaboration with providers, the operating room, and other departments.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and clinical teams regarding surgery dates, pre-operative instructions, and follow-up appointments.
- Receive and review pre-operative paperwork for accuracy and completeness, including insurance and medical information.
- Create, coordinate, and schedule pre-operative interviews and clearances as needed.
- Notify vendors, ancillary departments, and specialty reps of equipment or implant needs.
- Maintain accurate records of all scheduled surgeries and promptly update changes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Notify internal and external services (e.g., Coumadin Clinic, imaging, PT) of schedule updates or cancellations.
- Provide administrative and communication support to the orthopedic team as assigned.
- Adhere to all safety, confidentiality, and quality standards in accordance with hospital policies

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in healthcare administration or medical assisting preferred.
- One or more years of experience in a medical office or surgical scheduling environment preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, orthopedic procedures, and insurance authorization processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy clinical environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills-able to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
