Highlights of the Surgical Tech Endoscopy Role
**The Surgical Tech at Mass General Hospital plays an important role in the operating room and is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment, as well assists with the peri-operative care of patients.

Fourteen procedure rooms, two scope processing areas and one motility room.
**This role is an assistive role in providing patient care and other duties related to the preparation and maintenance of the GI Endoscopy suite environment.
Shift requirement for Surgical Tech Endoscopy role
**40 hours (4'10's), Monday through Friday 7am to 5:30pm or 7:30am-6pm.
One weekend shift every 6 weeks. One holiday every 12 months.
On call Sunday and Holiday requirement is 8am-8pm. No overnight call.

Qualifications
Education and Experience requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program (*see substitution below).
- Current Surgical Technologist Certification is required within one year from the date of graduation from a surgical technologist program or have been employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1st, 2013 or have successfully completed a training program for surgical technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the United States or in the United States Public Health Service (MA Senate Bill 2058, December 2012). Graduates who have not obtained their certification will have one year from the date of graduation from a surgical technologist program to obtain their certification.
Preferred experience:
- 1 year experience as Surgical Technologist in an Operating Room or Ambulatory Surgery
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
