Surveillance Systems Support Technician
Position Summary
The Surveillance Systems Support Technician is responsible for assembling and configuring computers, network cameras, and related hardware; installing and configuring software; conducting system-level testing; documenting configurations; and ensuring all equipment meets technical and quality requirements prior to shipment or field installation. This position supports ongoing government programs and must adhere to federal contractor compliance standards, including security, documentation, and quality procedures.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities
·Build, configure, and test PC systems, servers, and peripheral devices.
·Configure and deploy network video surveillance systems, IP cameras, NVRs, and associated network infrastructure.
·Perform technical verification, burn-in testing, and quality assurance inspection prior to delivery.
·Document system configurations, software versions, serial numbers, and network details in accordance with internal and government reporting guidelines.
·Assist in system imaging, deployment, and integration of third-party components per contract specification.
·Work with Systems and Network Managers to support communication system projects and installations.
·Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of configuration processes.
·Train and assist team members in standardized assembly and testing procedures.
·Provide after-hours technical support coverage as required by project schedules or customer needs.
·Maintain professionalism and customer-facing communication standards on-site and in written correspondence.
·Follow all OSHA and EPA safety regulations, use personal protective equipment, and comply with company and government quality systems.
·Perform additional job duties and assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
·Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent combination of formal training and applicable experience.
·Advanced proficiency with computer hardware and networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and structured cabling.
·Working knowledge of IP-based surveillance systems, CCTV, and related software.
·Capability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, network topologies, and assembly documentation.
·Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in both hardware and software environments.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
·Dependable attendance and adherence to work schedules.
·Must be authorized to work in the United States.
·Must be a U.S. Citizen to meet federal contract eligibility.
·Ability to successfully complete a background check and obtain clearance when required under contract.
·Familiarity with ITAR, DFARS, or other federal compliance regulations preferred.
Physical Demands
·Prolonged sitting and use of computer and test equipment.
·Dexterity and coordination for handling components, wiring, and testing tools.
·Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
·Ability to move within a lab, shop, or office environment and retrieve items at various heights.
·Visual acuity and fine motor control for detailed system assembly and inspection.
