Job Description

Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.

We are currently seeking an experienced Systems Analyst who will assist our organization with evaluating and documenting product and user requirements, and liaising closely with end users, customers, the product development and software development teams. This role is primarily focused on customer-facing software solutions (SaaS), ensuring that software products meet evolving client needs. The ideal candidate must have a high attention to detail and be able to effectively evaluate product and user requirements, workflows, and stakeholder needs. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to write comprehensive reports, and have strong business and data analysis skills. This position works in a team environment at our office in Lexington, KY. This is not a remote position.

This position reports to the Manager of Enterprise Software.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for software solutions.
  • Map and evaluate current business processes, identifying opportunities for automation and improvement in both customer-facing and internal systems.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and system designs. Work closely with developers and product managers to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Participate in software implementation projects, including analysis, testing, documentation, and integration activities. Support data migration and system integration efforts as needed.
  • Support testing initiatives to validate system changes, ensuring functionality, reliability, and alignment with user requirements.
  • Develop user manuals and deliver training sessions for new systems and features. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for both customer-facing and internal applications.
  • Monitor system performance, gather feedback, and recommend enhancements to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers, business units, IT, and external partners to ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Conduct research and on-site observations to identify tools, infrastructure, and personnel for process optimization.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and technology trends for efficient process automation.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications & Competencies

Employment Eligibility & Verification:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in systems analysis, preferably with exposure to SaaS solutions or other customer-facing software products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in requirements gathering, process mapping, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP systems, SaaS platforms, or similar enterprise software is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, and integration best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Experience with business process modeling tools (e.g., UML, Visio).
  • Knowledge of database management, API integration, and data migration.
  • Understanding of industry best practices for customer experience and process automation.
  • Exposure to Agile or similar development methodologies.

Working Conditions

  • Office setting with occasional need for travel (less than 10%).
