The specific responsibilities of all teaching assistants in the Department of Nursing include:
The Department of Nursing:
- Supports the Mission of the University and the Mission, Philosophy, and Strategic Plan of the Department of Nursing.
The Clinical/Lab Setting:
- Collaborates with Nursing faculty to evaluate students based on course outcomes;
- Facilitates integration of theory and research in clinical practice;
- Makes assignments relevant to course outcomes and students' learning needs:
- Establishes and maintains a cooperative working relationship with consumers, clinical agencies, and personnel;
- Communicates goals for students' clinical practice according to specified criteria;
- Evaluates the clinical agency's effectiveness in providing learning experiences for students.
Professional Competencies:
- Demonstrates knowledge of current trends in healthcare, nursing, and nursing education;
- Demonstrates creativity in learning strategies, assessment, and nursing practice;
- Actively participates in professional organizations and community activities;
- Demonstrates commitment to professional growth;
- Collaborates with colleagues in nursing and in other disciplines.
