Job Description

Scenic Charge

Searching for a Scenic Charge for the Brandeis University Dept. of Theater Arts for the Spring 2026 Academic Year. The Paint shop will consist of the Scenic Charge and possibly undergraduate work-study students. This position will work on up to three productions from January 2026-May 2026.

Candidates should have:

  • Extensive knowledge of scenic painting techniques

  • Ability to collaborate with designer

  • Ability to work well alone and on a schedule

Responsibilities include:

  • Budgeting time and supplies from renderings and conversations with designer

  • Mixing paint to match renderings

  • Maintain a neat and orderly paint shop

The hourly rate for the position is $25.

Position will require approximately 60hrs/show. These hours will include sampling during budgeting (if needed), painting the show and then any restore that needs to take place after strike. Work hours are flexible, with schedule coordinated with TD. Night and weekend hours are allowed. Must be available for notes during Tech Weeks.
