Job Description
The Therapy Aide provides support to the therapy team in the delivery of rehabilitation care to patients. Performs nonmedical tasks, such as setting up and cleaning treatment rooms and transporting patients to different areas of the health care facility.
Location: Central Valley PACE Centers located in Merced , Modesto and McHenry Specialty Clinic.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, working from 8:00am – 5:00pm
Compensation: $25.11 - $26.36 an hour

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake.
- Transport patients to and from therapy and assists into and out of therapy tubs.
- Administrative support of the department, including scheduling of and follow up with patients.
- Observes patient’s response to therapy and intervenes at signs of distress.
- Reports changes in patient clinical status, unusual patient behavior, and health concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Document patient’s communication, responses and progress.
- Responsible for preparation of equipment and supplies; and maintaining a clean and functional area for treatments and exercises.
- Constructs adaptive equipment such as transfer belts, makes simple repairs to therapy equipment and reports faulty or malfunctioning items.
- Prepares supply requisitions.
- Follow infectious disease precautions to prevent the spread of organism. Follows established departmental and position specific policies and procedures and updates as needed.
- Attends meetings, and family conferences as required.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting or pushing greater than 30 pounds, should be done with assistance as appropriate.
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
- Must have vision with or without lenses that is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents. Must have high manual dexterity.
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
Work Environment
- Exposure to biohazards, including infectious material and waste and any other conditions common in a health care environment.
- Subject to unpleasant odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Education/Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess the skills necessary to provide care for patients and must be able to function well in a team environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.
- Work effectively in a team setting.
- Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral, written, and computer skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) months experience in a professional or personal care setting.
- Current BLS CPR Card certified by the American Heart Association.
- Minimum six months experience in a physical or occupational therapy setting.
