Job Description

The Towne Insurance Intern Program is a ten-week program for rising seniors attending a 4-year university. While the program is open to all areas of study, candidates focusing on Risk Management and Insurance through a major or minor program will be preferred.

The intern program focuses on the essential roles within an independent insurance agency. Commercial Insurance is the primary focus, yet the Agency's multiple capabilities also provide exposure to Personal Insurance and Employee Benefits Insurance.

Program Dates: May 18, 2026 - July 24, 2026

Weeks 1-5 develop a skillset reflecting the core operations of an insurance agency.

Weeks 6-10 allow the intern to apply the knowledge supporting the agency operations.

  • ISO Commercial Coverage Forms
  • Agency Management System
  • Key operations including
  • The marketing role includes preparing key elements for a carrier submission and evaluating the programs offered.
  • The Account Manager Role with insight into the key servicing elements essential to client satisfaction and risk retention.
  • The Risk Advisor Role in developing key relationships and earning trust by providing practical solutions and coverage design to the exposures presented by the business operations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in account submission activities, including compiling details necessary to ensure completeness, loss summary exhibits, location schedules, and pertinent underwriting data.
  • Assist in the comparison of carrier proposals to convey options and essential program elements to clients and prospects.
  • Research and update open items in the Agency Management System
  • Participate in opportunities to meet with agency clients, prospects, and carrier partners and in risk control visits.
  • Actively participate in the 10-week program outlined, which includes a capstone office project to present to senior management during the final week. The project is an opportunity to share your legacy by sharing a product or improvement to improve the operation.
  • Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Rising or graduating Senior in a 4-year university
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills
  • Outgoing and helpful personality
  • Dependability and punctuality
  • Willingness to try new tasks as a growth opportunity
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements:

  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
  • Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
  • Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
