Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Orientation & Onboarding
- Welcome new hires and foster a positive first impression of the facility
- Lead structured orientation sessions covering facility policies, procedures, and culture
- Collect signed onboarding documents and submit them to HR
- Ensure completion of new hire checklists and forward to HR
- Work with department leadership to hand off for shadowing week
Instruction & Certification
- Serve as certified CPR/First Aid instructor for staff training and recertification
- Conduct QBS (Safety-Care) training for applicable staff roles
- Provide hands-on instruction for clinical and non-clinical staff as needed
Policy & Compliance
- Educate new hires on HR policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure training includes HIPAA, infection control, emergency protocols, and resident rights
- Ensure training content meets state and facility compliance standards
Performance Monitoring
- Evaluate staff competency through observations, quizzes, and hands-on assessments
- Identify employees who are not meeting competency standards
- Provide additional support, coaching, or retraining as needed
- Collaborate with HR and department heads to initiate corrective action or termination if necessary
Ongoing Development
- Assist in planning and delivering refresher training for existing staff
- Maintain accurate records of training completion, certifications, and evaluations
- Continuously improve orientation materials based on feedback and regulatory updates
- Support a culture of continuous learning, growth, and accountability
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- Current certification as CPR/First Aid and QBS instructor (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in long-term care or healthcare setting preferred
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies
Preferred Skills
- Experience in staff development, onboarding, or education coordination
- Ability to assess performance and provide constructive feedback
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach
- Proficiency with technology and digital tools used in training, documentation and communication
- Ability to meet physical requirements necessary to conduct CPR and other hands-on training sessions, including but not limited to, walking standing, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling and demonstrating physical interventions
