Transportation Management Intern

Our summer internship program is an excellent opportunity to tie what you have learned in the classroom into real-world experience. The program consists of an 11-week immersion into Werner Enterprises.

Internship Overview:

Responsibilities:

• Process Improvement Initiatives: Work with team members to analyze and enhance current processes within the division. Your feedback and innovative ideas can lead to improvements that have a lasting impact.
• Customer Case Studies: Participate in real-world case studies where you'll analyze client needs and support the design of customized solutions, giving you a taste of strategic planning and execution.
• Internal Research Projects: Conduct research to evaluate industry trends and best practices, which can inform decisions within the division, providing valuable insights to your teammates.

Systems Exposure:

• Transportation Management Tools (e.g., AS400, Mastery's Edge TMS, etc.): Familiarize yourself with tools that allow the team to manage their assets and freight volume.
• Data Analysis Tools (e.g., Excel or Tableau): Gain experience in analyzing data, visualizing meaningful insights, and crafting reports to present to the team.

Skills Needed:

• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities are crucial to convey ideas and collaborate effectively with your team.
• Problem-Solving Mindset: A knack for thinking creatively and approaching challenges with an analytical perspective will set you apart.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively will help you thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of tools like Excel, Word, and any project management software will be advantageous.
