Job Description

Job description:

We are representing a school looking for Club Basketball Coach in the greater Southborough area. Looking for someone who can teach basic skills and create a positive team culture and work with kids individually to help them not only become better player, but better people as well.

Job Details:

  • Position: Club Basketball Coach
  • Comp: The Coaching Stipend is generally $800-$1200 per team, based on Experience/Professionalism/Evaluation
  • 9 week season (April Vacation Week off) from roughly 3/9 until 5/17
  • Practices either Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs in Southborough (at night starting sometime between 5:30-7:30pm for 80-90 minutes)
  • Tournaments/Games on 6 weekends from late March until roughly 5/17 (generally within a 30-45 minute drive from Southborough)
  • For most teams, the season is over the week before Memorial Day Weekend

Position Overview

  • We are looking for responsible/professional people who know the sport well and have played it for at least 5 years
  • Key Skills: Active/Vocal style, Positive/Encouraging, Good Communicator, Strong EQ
  • Experience: Ideally there is some coaching experience, but if they haven't coached yet we would still consider the candidate if they can demonstrate they possess the key skills
  • Passion: we need coaches who love the sport and want to help the next generation....and who will greatly enjoy the multi-year bond they form with their team(s) as they watch the players grow into young adults and improve their game (not coaches doing it for the money)
  • Coaches will be working with Boys and Girls Grades 4-12 (mostly Grades 5-10). Some teams have players that are really advanced relative to grade, while other teams have average players looking to play more and develop
  • In the past, we've found success with people in their 20s who's lives aren't busy yet with children (or college students in some situations). We also have coaches who's kids are out of the house (or at least in High School), the schedule works for them, and they miss coaching as they no longer coach their kids
