Intact's Global Specialty Lines business spans across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK and Europe. The following opportunity is for our U.S. team.

The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an Underwriting Intern to join our North America Specialty Underwriting (NASU) team based in our Boston, MA; Canton, MA office or remotely nationwide. The projected start date is early June 2026, and the internship will last approximately 8-10 weeks. As a lean organization, we often face tight deadlines and last-minute engagements in important forums, leaving limited time to promote our work or optimize our internal and external presentations. This internship is designed to accelerate our goal of underwriting outperformance, and to help NASU build a forward-thinking inventory that supports our growth over the next five years.

The intern will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop internal templates, draft foundational strategy documents and training materials, and get involved with NASU projects. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to high-level corporate strategy, communications, and operations in a dynamic and impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Publicity & Presentation Development (Primary Focus)
• Create internal templates such as:
• "What's NASU" overview (potentially an AI-generated short film based on existing presentations)
• Presentations and Reports templates
• Etc.
• Collaborate with senior management and a designated mentor for guidance and content input.
• Projects Site Audit (Approx. 30-60 hours)
• Corporate Strategy Documentation (Approx. 30-60 hours)
• Collaborate with Corporate Underwriting team to review exposures and underwriting strategies
• Assist in developing a basic training session with each line of business to support onboarding and knowledge sharing.
• Forward-Thinking Underwriting Compliance Support, Risk Control and Quality Assurance (Approx. 90 hours.
• Support the development of visual aids or training materials to promote compliance awareness across the company.
• Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current documentation and suggest improvements.
• Collaborate with compliance and underwriting teams to ensure alignment with NASU's strategic goals.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Communications, Insurance, Law (J.D. or LLM), Risk Management or a related field with GPA 3.0 minimum.
• A proactive and collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to problem-solve and think analytically.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Experience with AI tools or video creation software is a plus.
• Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

Compensation:

$22 - $27/hour
