Job Description

The Charleston Veterinary Referral Center is hiring a full- time Inventory Lead to join our outstanding Veterinary Hospital team!
Compensation: $29 - $33/hr, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

About the Role: The Inventory Lead will oversee and manage the inventory operations of our hospital. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels, managing inventory systems, and ensuring products and supplies are readily available for hospital use.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain the inventory of pharmaceuticals and hospital supplies for all services. Place purchase orders for supplies in a timely fashion. Alert hospital of shortages and pricing issues.
- Develop and maintain physical inventory rotations. Develop minimum drug and hospital supply values and reorder points. Develop purchase orders using veterinary software inventory data, hand counts and/or staff’s short list. Train inventory team to properly use the inventory system and monitor it for correct use, including: How to check orders against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure that shipments are accurate upon arrival. How to check for breakage or other problems that would render merchandise unusable. How to report problems to suppliers and how to receive in a purchase order.
- Maintain positive work relationships with vendors. Discuss new products with detail reps or suppliers. Work with Medical Director and Hospital Director on ordering new products. Relay information to veterinarians and the medical director and arrange for future communication with the company representatives. Review programs from vendor of choice to ensure the best value on purchases. Negotiate purchases with respect to price, discount, quality, quantity, etc.
- Oversee quarterly and weekly counts. Oversee all offices with quarterly and monthly counts.
- Ability to display tact and diplomacy with staff members, clients and vendors, to be flexible in attitude and work habits, to establish priorities and create new protocols, to work without direct supervision, and to perform computer skills with accuracy and speed.
- Price shop for all inventory, janitorial and office supplies. Stock office supplies so that materials are consistently available.
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Prior work experience as an inventory manager or in a similar position is required, with outstanding knowledge of data analysis, excellent forecasting methods, and sound working knowledge of common inventory management software.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal & written, with doctors, coworkers, and clients. Excellent organizational, time management, prioritization, delegation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude, with the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality while maintaining a professional, positive, and encouraging attitude.
