Vice President, Internal Communications

About the role

We're looking for a Vice President of Internal Communications to shape and lead Crunchyroll's global internal communications strategy, connecting and inspiring teams worldwide while strengthening our culture and brand from the inside out. Reporting to the SVP of Communications, you'll guide a talented team, build trusted partnerships across the company, and collaborate with Sony Pictures Entertainment and global communications leaders to ensure messages resonate globally and locally.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and execution of a global internal communications strategy that aligns with our goals and strengthens Crunchyroll's brand.
• Develop scalable frameworks, governance models, and resources for consistent, impactful communication across regions.
• Partner with regional leads to balance global alignment with local relevance.
• Provide strategic counsel and develop messaging for executives, including company-wide announcements, business updates, change management, town halls, and leadership visibility.
• Build narrative-driven internal editorial strategies that highlight Crunchyroll's offerings, community, and impact on the anime industry.
• Deliver programs, campaigns, events, and experiences that engage employees, spark creativity, and foster pride in our mission.
• Use technology and events as platforms for storytelling, education, and engagement.
• Continuously evaluate and improve internal channels for clarity, reach, and employee experience.

What You'll Bring to the Role

• Experience scaling global internal communications in complex, multi-region organizations within entertainment, tech, or streaming.
• Strategic vision combined with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and execution.
• Expertise in collaborating with executive leadership, regional teams, and cross-functional partners.
• Creativity, resourcefulness, and a passion for storytelling, strategy, and culture-building.
• Commitment to promoting connection, learning, and engagement across the organization.

We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Los Angeles office.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of experience in media relations, corporate communications, internal communications, or corporate relations in a global, matrixed organization within entertainment, tech, or streaming.
• You have experience in people management and leading high-performing teams globally.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills, producing crisp, high-quality content.
• You are organized, strategic, hands-on, and able to run point with C-suite leaders while managing multiple initiatives and solving complex problems.
• You have a global mindset and the cultural awareness to work effectively with diverse teams and regions.
• You are knowledgeable about anime, pop culture, and entertainment trends; familiarity with Japanese culture is a bonus.
• You can travel domestically and internationally across time zones.

The Crunchyroll Communications team is a nimble group of publicists and communications professionals who love talking about anime, our brand, and the broader streaming entertainment industry. We're storytellers and we connect our passionate fans to the content they love through thoughtful press around our fan-centric touchpoints (SVOD, theatrical, events, games, merchandise, and more). We also connect our employees (Crunchyrollers), who are fans themselves.
