Job Overview:

Division: Education ServicesWork Schedule: 35 hours per week, regular, full-time

Pay: Annualized salary, exempt

Salary Range: $135,000-$150,000

Location: Fully onsite in the Lower East Side

Reports To: Henry Street Settlement’s CEO

Organizational Overview:

With a legacy spanning over 130 years, Henry Street is one of New York City's largest and most respected social service agencies, offering more than 50 innovative and effective programs that promote equity, empowerment, and community well-being.

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Education & Community Social Work is a key leadership role within the Education & Employment Services envision. This position is responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and development of four community schools, the Youth Opportunity Hub, the Expanded Horizons College Access and Success program, and the Agency’s Community Wellness programs. Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President supervises a team of Community School Directors, a Youth Opportunity Hub Clinical Manager, the Director of Expanded Horizons, the Community Wellness Coordinator, and administrative staff, ensuring high-quality program delivery, operational efficiency, and strong school and community partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW); LMSW and/or SIFI certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in youth development, community-based education, or school-based programming in urban settings.
  • At least 5 years of senior level supervisory experience overseeing multi-site teams and managing performance-based contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in program development, coordination, event planning, and resource/referral systems for youth and families.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative management style.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to build trust, engage youth, and support staff in high-demand environments.
  • High cultural competency with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Workspace, and client data systems/databases.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide visionary leadership and direct supervision to:
    • Four Community School Directors (CSDs)
    • Youth Opportunity Hub Clinical Manager
    • Director of Expanded Horizons College Access and Success Program
    • Clinical Wellness Coordinator
    • Department Administrative Assistant
  • Conduct regular one-on-one supervision and team meetings to support performance, accountability, and professional development.
  • Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Children and Youth Services in weekly strategy and leadership meetings.

Program Oversight & Development

  • Oversee the implementation and performance of Community Schools, Expanded Horizons, Community Wellness Initiatives, and Youth Opportunity Hub programs, ensuring alignment with agency mission and community needs.
  • Liaise with Schools of Social Work to manage MSW internship placements for Community Schools and Youth Opportunity Hub
  • Monitor program performance, data outcomes, and service delivery in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Manage budgets for assigned programs and ensure compliance with fiscal and reporting obligations.
  • Collaborate with school leadership at each community school to build supportive cultures that enhance academic, emotional, and social success for students
  • Champion social-emotional development and resource coordination through effective program design and execution.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal departments, external partners, funders, and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as a key liaison with the Henry Street Board and Leadership Team, representing program outcomes and initiatives.
  • Advocate for program resources and support, particularly in navigating school-based challenges and opportunities.
  • Manage initiatives like the LC participation, Meeting the Moment, Arrive to Thrive) - something about responding to community need by building both intra-agency and inter-agency collaboration and communication?
  • Respond to community needs by building both intra-agency and inter-agency collaboration and communication opportunities. 

Program Strategy & Innovation

  • Support and guide outreach and recruitment efforts for programs under their management.
  • Promote cross-program collaboration within Henry Street Settlement to optimize client services and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement and innovation based on evaluation, emerging trends, and youth/community feedback.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure timely and accurate data collection, reporting, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track and evaluate contract performance indicators and maintain compliance with all grant and city agency requirements.
  • Support planning and execution of agency-wide and departmental events, meetings, and initiatives.

Other Duties

  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives and events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
